Some assets can’t survive a water-based suppression event. Server rooms, telecom closets, museums, clean rooms, and electrical vaults need fire protection that eliminates the fire without destroying what you’re trying to save. That’s what special hazard systems do.

Systems We Service and Install
- FM-200 (HFC-227ea) - the most widely deployed clean agent. Suppresses fire in 10 seconds or less without leaving residue. Safe for occupied spaces.
- Novec 1230 - 3M’s clean agent with the lowest atmospheric lifetime. Preferred for environmentally sensitive facilities.
- Carbon dioxide (CO2) - total flooding and local application systems for industrial hazards. Used in generator rooms, paint spray booths, and printing operations.
- FE-13 and Halon alternatives - replacement agents for legacy Halon 1301 systems, with drop-in retrofit capabilities
- Dry chemical systems - fast-acting suppression for industrial processes, flammable liquid storage, and high-hazard manufacturing
- Wet chemical systems - specifically designed for commercial cooking equipment and kitchen hood applications
Design and Engineering
Special hazard systems require precise engineering. Agent concentration, room volume, discharge time, and ventilation all factor into system design. IFS engineers each system based on the specific room geometry and hazard classification, not generic templates.
We handle flow calculations, nozzle placement, agent quantity, detection integration, and control panel programming. Every system is tested and commissioned before handover.
Ongoing Maintenance
These systems require regular inspection and testing to remain reliable. IFS performs semi-annual and annual inspections per NFPA 2001 and NFPA 12, including agent level verification, cylinder pressure checks, detection system testing, and discharge path integrity assessment.
